Get it: By the Hashtags? You see, the hashtag is the number symbol, or the pound sign, so Turkey Bowl XVI: By the Hashtags is just a clever way of saying Turkey Bowl XVI: By the Numbers.

1
The number of players to take the field in 2+ games and never lose. Ian Hart, who played in 5 Turkey Bowls, amassing 2 MVP honors and 11 total touchdowns, retired undefeated in TFL play.

2
The number of TFL members who have played in EVERY game and have never garnered MVP honors: Chris Crooks and Matt Marcelli.

2
The number of team names that included the name of a TFL member. The Doc F*ckers and the Nappy Headed Trills are the only two teams that directly made mention of a players/ given name or nickname.

3 (ok, now 4)
The number of times Beverly Hills 90210 starlet Shannen Doherty, which I commonly spell Shannon Dougherty, has been mentioned on the TFL website. Usually, Shannon is referenced as having no relation to TFL QB Tim Dougherty.

4
The number of sibling pairs or trios that have participated in Turkey Bowl play: The Orio tandem, brothers Marcelli, Hart throbs, and riff-raff Graffs have made the Turkey Bowl a family event.

4
The number of teams whose names are directly derived from alcohol or an alcoholic beverage: #golddiggers, #wolfkillers, Four Lokos Deep, and, my personal favorite, Beer.

5
The number of games that have passed, including the upcoming Turkey Bowl, since the Hart brothers have been on the field together. Jon bowed out after TB XI and Ian last played in TB XIII.

6
The number of players to throw a TD pass in Turkey Bowl play.

10
The number of games Matt Marcelli has lost. Matt has felt the sting of bitter defeat more times than any player in TFL history.

10
The number of players who have never scored a touchdown. Included on this list are boy-band sensation Chris Kirkpatrick and Michele DiNofia's former flame Vince Cipalone.

13
The number of MVP winners. Of that list, 5 people have won the award more than once, and Paul Middleton, Keith Cottom, Kris Conn, Tim Dougherty, and Mark Marcelli captured the honor in their TFL debuts.

19
The highest combined score of any Turkey Bowl. Games that combined for 19 touchdowns include TB I, TB IV, and TB XII.

24
The number of non-passing touchdowns scored by Kevin Rayer. Rayer currently holds a one-touchdown lead over Paul Middleton for non-passing TDs.

25
The number of Rules that guide Turkey Bowl play. The best, in my opinion, is: There is no such thing as roughing in Turkey Bowl football.

26-25
The combined score of all Old School v. New School games. In a series that is knotted up at 2-2, New School's 1 touchdown advantage over Old School, unless the format is ever brought back, will forever immortalized them as the better school.

30
The number of players who have participated in at least one Turkey Bowl. To further break it down, of the 30 total participants, 23 have played in multiple games. That number should grow to 25 after this year, as The Lion and Steve? will be participating in their second game.

100
The number of touchdown passes, according to the TFL Stats, that Tim Dougherty has thrown. Tim currently leads the category with 40 more touchdown passes than fellow QB Mike Trill.

108
The number of message board posts in 2008. Since the inception of the modern message board in 2005, 2008 was the most popular posting era, which was the year of Turkey Bowl IX.

195
The total number of end zone trips made in TFL competition. That is an average of 13 touchdowns per game.

404
The number of topics on the current Turkey Bowl Message Board. It would take me entirely too long to count the number of actual posts, especially with our recent spamming, but 404 pieces of conversation and smack-talk is pretty darn impressive. The first post, written by Doc, is entitled I love. . . and was posted on October 3, 2005.
