Turkey Bowl XI Factoids
posted Tuesday November 16th, 2010 by Crooks & STATS Inc.
Ten Turkey Bowls down, one, that being Turkey Bowl XI, booked for November 25th of this year. In ten years we’ve narrowed down the stats and distinguished the leaders in winning percentage, touchdown passes, touchdown catches, etc., but, we’ve never looked at an individual Turkey Bowl in more than an opinion-based fashion. That is, until now.

After days of scouring the careers and stats of players, outcomes and results of games, and the countless draft boards and rosters, the Marcelli Bros., not to be confused with the Super Mario Bros., who are also Italian, and myself have found 15 interesting factoids that relate to the rosters and players of this years' teams.

Each fact presents a different look at the 2010 teams and Turkey Bowl XI itself. Some facts highlight the achievements and winning-ability of Grease Busters, while others overwhelmingly illustrate that Four Lokos has a much better shot of walking away as the TB XI victors.

Either way, regardless of the bias and direction each fact displays, you have to admit that, at the least, they are all pretty insightful, causing each of us to contemplate the only pre-game question on our minds: Who will win the battle between grease or alcohol induced football?
  1. A team drafting Chris Crooks has not won a Turkey Bowl since TB VII
  2. Four Lokos Deep (Jon and Ian Hart) becomes just the 3rd team in the history of the Turkey Bowl to include brothers on the same roster (Matt and Mark Marcelli in Turkey Bowl I - Team Possum and Turkey Bowl II - CK/NL/WU)
  3. Ian Hart, even though the youngest of the competitors, remains unbeaten through two-games
  4. In the 8 games in which the Marcelli brothers were on opposing sides, Mark holds a 5-3 advantage over Matt
  5. Jon Hart has never been part of a winning campaign that wasn’t associated with the New School-Old School format
  6. Jon Hart, Tom Orio and Joe Simcox are the only players on this year's rosters to never visit a Turkey Bowl end zone
  7. Mike Trill to Kevin Rayer is the most productive QB to WR combo in TFL history; producing 11 touchdowns
  8. Paul Middleton has lost all three-games he’s thrown TD passes in
  9. Since Mike Bucella entered the league, Mike Trill has yet to win a game in which Tuna was not blocking for him
  10. Since scoring stats began being recorded (Turkey Bowl IV) Kevin Rayer has never scored less than 2 TDs in a game
  11. Tim Doc and Trill as a duo are undefeated in two-games
  12. Tom Orio is 1-3 in TB play. His three-losses have come when having to block/rush against Tuna, while his one-win came when Tuna was his teammate
  13. Tony Laughlin has never beaten Keith Cottom
  14. When paired together Keith Cottom and Tim Dougherty have never lost
  15. In games with drafts, a team selecting Tuna has never lost
