Turkey Bowl XIII News And Notes

As Turkey Bowl XIII fast approaches (just 9 days away as of this posting) there are a few things that I'd like to address.

First is the lack of communication surrounding this year's game, which has lead a few to ask the somewhat ridiculous question "Are we playing Turkey Bowl this year?" Of course we're playing Turkey Bowl this year, we'll be playing Turkey Bowl for many years to come; but details concerning Turkey Bowl XIII have been admittedly scarce. And while the game itself will take place in 2012 the annual TFL Draft Day will not. The rigors of adult life have left no time for an entire day dedicated to drafting, and instead of drafting a few weeks in advance like usual the draft will now be held at the field on Thanksgiving morning at 9:30 AM. If you aren't there by the 9:30 start time you will be draft ineligible and thus will not be drafted. One more time for clarity's sake: Draft. 9:30 AM. Pritchard Field. Thanksgiving morning

As for the game itself, I don't know about everyone else but by the time we wrapped things up last year I was friggin exhausted. Thusly the game time has been shortened by 15 minutes per half. The new schedule is:
9:30 AM - Teams picked
9:45 AM - First Half Kickoff
10:45 AM - Halftime
11:00 AM - Second Half Kickoff
12:00 PM - Game Ends

Our last bit of business concerning game play is that of tackle. Namely, it has been eliminated. A few people expressed concerns about recovery time, injury, etc. and how they might consider sitting out the game; with participation in mind it was decided to go from rough touch on just quarterbacks to full rough touch for everyone (full rules to be discussed). Tackle will be missed, but age is definitely catching up with us.

And finally, as always we will be doing our annual toy drive. Please bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game to be donated.
