Game Summary
On a mild fall day, in November of 2000, ten friends met on the football field for the first time. Little did they know that their seemingly meaningless game would one day turn into one of the most celebrated events of the year. The inaugural Turkey Bowl was only a shadow of what it is today, it was chaotic and unorganized. The game started off on a strange foot.

The captains, just as they do every year, met at midfield for the coin toss. However, they neglected to bring a coin. So they used the next best thing: an Andes After Dinner Candy... the opening kick off was decided by a mint. After the confusion of the coin toss subsided the game got off to an exciting start.

Team Possum started the game off on a torrid pace.

Dougherty
They scored points by the bunches as QB Mike Trill lead the attack and Team Possum took a 5-1 lead into half time. The UnPhairs were not finished however, as they came out of half time with a vengance. The teams went back and forth throughout the second half, and The UnPhairs took a 9-8 lead when Tim Dougherty scored his second rushing touchdown of the day.

On their next possesion, Timmy Doc was leading The UnPhairs in for what appeared to be the game winning touchdown;

Marcelli
but Mark Marcelli came up huge. Marcelli intercepted a pass in his own end zone and proceeded to take it the length of the field for the score, tying the game and swinging the momentum in his team's favor.

After a defensive stand, Team Possum regained possession. After moving the ball into UnPhair territory, Team Possum lined up for what would prove to be the final play of the day. On a deep crossing route, WR Chris Crooks used a push off that is still talked about to this day and Mike Trill hit him with a pass in the back of the end zone for the game winner. Final Score: Team Possum - 10 The UnPhairs - 9.
