Tim Dougherty was projected to go first in the 2006 TFL Draft. After all, many, including TFL.com's Vic Carucci, felt the QB was the best talent available. But the
Doc F*ckers however, went in another direction, choosing
Barnaby's OL Tony Laughlin with the No. 1 pick overall and setting the tone for what would be an intriguing draft. Check out all the selections with Turkey Bowl's Draft Tracker.
ESPN.com's Mel Kiper analyzed the draft;
"Although it comes as no suprise that the first 2 picks turned out to be linemen the steal of this draft might be Doc F*ckers DB/WR Bill Pohlig. Pohlig is tied for the lead league in TD catches in a career but somehow remained on the board until the 3rd round. Doc F*ckers captain Jon Hart managed to grab Pohlig with the 5th overall pick. If Pohlig can keep pace with his production in years' past he will prove to be a valuable compliment to Matt Marcelli's size in the red zone. Another surprise was the length of time spent on the board by long time veteran quarterbacks Tim Dougherty and Mike Trill. Dougherty was finally snatched up in the 3rd round with the 6th overall pick, he will look to improve on his league leading 14 career TD passes. Trill lasted into Round 5 until Keith Cottom used the 10th selection to pick up the long time QB. Overall it was a solid draft for both squads; looking at the rosters it's hard not to label this game a toss up."
