For years, Star Trek fans have waged a great debate against one another: Who is the better Captain: Kirk or Picard? Now, TFL members have a debate of their own; Who is the better Captain: Trill or Doc? Let’s take a look at each one and do a little comparison.
Tim Dougherty

Gallagher
Tim comes into Turkey Bowl IX as the league leader in
career touchdown passes. He surpassed the league’s former leader, Mike Trill, after an MVP performance in
Turkey Bowl VIII, “The Ocho”. Chances are Tim has been planning his draft strategy since he was named MVP in the aforementioned Turkey Bowl, and now, knowing that Trill will be his opposing captain, has his draft scenario perfected. Tim brings a strong arm to the table and an excellent ability to see the field. In addition to that, Tim has been known to dabble in the wide receiver position.
The defensive side of the ball is where Tim could become a liability. It has been documented through video (see inset), that Tim, who insists he is an above average Safety, has been caught out of position a number of times. Tim also still believes that he can return kicks and punts, when his 200+lbs frame serves much better as a blocker. Tim’s major weakness is his speed and his lack of mobility. This is not due to any fault of Tim’s own, but that his knees have been worn from years of gridiron battles. Overall, Tim’s Turkey Bowl record speaks for itself. Tim boasts a winning percentage of 75% and is currently on a four game win streak, having last lost in the first installment of New School vs. Old School in
Turkey Bowl IV.
Mike Trill

Trill
Trill, Tim’s adversary, is also known for his quarterback abilities. Mike is second to Tim in the all-time touchdown pass category by only two TD’s, and has verbally claimed that he will retake the lead in Turkey Bowl IX.

MT needs Team Bootlegger's to be with him, not against him
Mike will go into this year’s draft with a little more laxed attitude. Chances are Mike has not planned his draft strategy yet and probably will not until draft day. Trill’s arm is not as strong as Tim’s, but he is a much more efficient scrambler. In addition, Trill is also more useful in defensive coverage schemes. Trill’s weaknesses stem not from himself, but from the Bootlegger’s staff. Couple the girth of the staff with Trill’s itsy bitsy frame and you have one badly broken wishbone. Mike’s record does not look as favorable as Tim’s (4-4, 50%) and he is coming off a devastating loss last year. Trill’s last victory came in
Turkey Bowl VII as Tim’s teammate on
Team Zissou.
Draft Suggestions
If I am Trill, I am taking as many Bootleggers’ bouncers as I can in the early rounds. He needs that girth on his side rather than working against him. Trill’s best friend is time, and the only people who can provide that are the Bootlegger’s Bananas. Of course Tim needs linemen too, but one of Tim’s greatest assets can be fast receivers. Tim is known for his arm, and with a fast receiver he should be able to throw past the coverage and convert some long TD’s.
